Description

To quote a scene from Jurassic Park -
Henry Wu: "You're implying that a group composed entirely of female animals will... breed?"
Dr. Ian Malcolm: "No, I'm simply saying that life, uh... finds a way."

Life finds a way indeed... supposedly! :giggle:

Also, I was going to add in Buddha, but he was born from his mother's right flank. I'm not sure if that qualifies as a virgin birth or not.

Some others that didn't make the list are Genghis Khan, emperor of the Mongol Empire and the Kabir, the Mystic Poet. No particular reason for excluding them as their claims are equally full of shit as all the others on the list. The only difference I suppose is that we know for a fact that they existed as opposed to all the 'gods'. :D

I've been reading Nailed: Ten Christian Myths That Show Jesus Never Existed At All by David Fitzgerald, and it has a passage about how practically all ancient cultures sought to enhance the reputations of heroes and leaders by making the circumstances of their birth "miraculous" in some way. Being born of a woman impregnated by a god instead of a mortal man fit the bill nicely, although most (with Christianity being the most profound exception) have the god doing it in more-or-less the usual way. BTW, Nailed puts forth VERY convincing arguments that Jesus is as fictional as Cthulu, created out of whole cloth by people living nearly a century after the "birth" of the fellow. Good reading if you have an open mind, or want an argument against anyone who'd try to beat you over the head (metaphorically or otherwise) with their bible. And even if a real prototype did exist, he'd TOTALLY disown the religion his so-called followers created; indeed, he would weep at the anti-Semetism it fostered, that led to the butchery of millions of innocents through the ages.

As for Christianity being the exception to divine hanky-panky, the religion has developed a pathological hatred of sex and its attendant pleasures, almost to the point of having self-castration as a sacrament, and civilization has not benefited from it.  Their virginity-fetishism has had only ugly results for humanity.
